Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum—an acclaimed museum in Savannah, Ga. dedicated to celebrating and preserving America’s maritime legacy—is honored to present “Celestial Seafarers,” an exciting, multi-media outdoor experience featuring nautical-inspired light and sound installations by 11 visionary local artists on Thurs., Nov. 5 and Fri., Nov. 6 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The two-night-only exhibition will take place after dark in the museum and the inspiring gardens at Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum. Designed to offer moments of enchantment, wonder and discovery, “Celestial Seafarers” will be awash in waves of light and sound, presenting multiple site-specific, experimental art installations. Attendees are invited to experience two luminous evenings where art, exploration and maritime imagination converge beneath the stars. The theme for the third annual “Celestial Seafarers” event is “Voyage of the Seven Seas.” For millennia, the Seven Seas have inspired myths, legends and literature across civilizations around the globe, symbolizing the spirit of adventure and the quest for exploration. Drawing inspiration from epic maritime voyages, “Celestial Seafarers” will celebrate the mystery and adventure of life at sea through a contemporary lens. Inspired by the spirit of discovery that guided sailors across the world’s oceans, “Celestial Seafarers” invites guests to journey through immersive installations of light and sound, conceived by some of Savannah’s most talented artists. Featured artists include Joshua Alexander, Shae Benezra, Greg Finger, Marcus Kenney, Kevin Kirkwood, Abigail Portner, Kristopher Maedke-Russell, Allen Peterson, Todd Schroeder, Matt Toole and Matt Van Rys. This event will transform the historic Scarbrough House and the largest private garden in Savannah’s National Historic Landmark District into a living canvas of radiant installations, ambient soundscapes and captivating performances for two exciting evenings. Drinks will be available for purchase. All proceeds from “Celestial Seafarers” will benefit Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum programming. General admission tickets (ages 18+) are currently available for $22. Student tickets are $15 per person on Student Night on Thursday, Nov. 5 with a valid student ID. Tickets for children ages 17 and under are $10.

God of all nations, on this Veterans Day we thank you for all who have served in our armed forces: for the oath they took and kept, for the years they gave and the homes they left behind, for courage in danger and faithfulness in the long, ordinary days. Bless every veteran among us, those who came home to welcome and those who came home to silence. Heal the wounds that show and the wounds that do not. Give them work that honors their gifts, friends who understand them, and a nation that keeps its promises to them. Comfort the military families who waited and sacrificed alongside them. We remember with gratitude those who did not come home, and we ask your comfort for all who still miss them. Teach the nations the ways of peace, until swords are beaten into plowshares and no one learns war any more. Amen.

Multiple Grammy and Dove Award-winners Russ Taff and Steve Taylor will appear in one electrifying night together on the The Almost Farewell Tour. Taff will be both supported and backed on all dates by his longtime friend and collaborator and his Some Band. “Maya Angelou said ‘This is a wonderful day. I’ve never seen this one before,’” says Russ Taff. “That’s the way I feel about this tour – it’s going to be so unique and different than any I’ve done. Steve and I did a concert together several months ago and we blew the roof off the place. Steve was stunningly good, it’s been years since I’ve had that much fun on stage! I’m sograteful I get to tour with Steve, I’ve been a fan for a long time. In fact, I remember Mom playing Steve Taylor records when I was like two–years–old. Ha ha ha, kidding Steve, ha ha ha!” “I’m mostly doing this tour as an excuse to hear Russ Taff sing every night,” says Steve Taylor. “But I’m also looking forward to re-assembling Some Band and playing songs I haven’t performed in a few decades.” From a troubled childhood, to the top of the charts, from impossible heights of creative success to his hard-won battle with the bottle, Russ Taff has told the story of his extraordinary life countless times over the course of his career – but never quite like this. Taff has inspired like-minded artists from Kings of Leon to Mercy Me with an influential singing style and body of work and classic songs that have related his spiritual journey with stunning power and deeply personal detail, how he was brought low by trauma and addiction and raised up again through the power of love and faith. Hailed by Prism as a “renaissance man,” musician/filmmaker/writer/producer/entrepreneur Steve Taylor has created a remarkably diverse body of work over the past four decades. Taylor’s work as a music video director and filmmaker saw him make history as the only artist to twice win Billboard Music Video Awards for self-directed music videos and also includes iconic music videos for such artists as Sixpence None the Richer, Newsboys, Fleming & John, Rich Mullins, and more. Taylor has also crafted a remarkably award-winning body of work as the director, writer, producer of numerous feature films, documentaries, animated TV series, and more.
Thanksgiving Is Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude to God, our Creator and Provider, whose guidance and care go before us... and whose love is with us forever. Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the changes, to remember that we, too, grow and change from one season of life to another. Thanksgiving is a time of changing seasons, when leaves turn golden in Autumn's wake and apples are crisp in the first chill breezes of fall. Let us remember the true meaning of Thanksgiving. As we see the beauty of Autumn, let us acknowledge the many blessings which are ours... let us think of our families and friends.. and let us give thanks in our hearts. - Author Unknown
