    Whispers in the Dark

    October 30 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Family Life Church 5140 Blythe Island Hwy., Brunswick, GA, United States

    1. What is Whispers in the Dark?Whispers in the Dark is an immersive walk through experience designed to highlight real struggles that many in our generation facethings like suicide, drug use, bullying, and the consequences of drinking and driving. Each room presents a different scenario, showing the lies people often hear and believe. Some of the rooms include live actors who depict powerful scenes, making the experience even more real and impactful. But the journey doesn’t end in darkness it leads to a powerful message of hope and life.2. Why is there a trigger warning? We include a trigger warning because the event deals with heavy but very real topics suicide, overdose, bullying, and similar struggles. These are things that impact our community, even at a young age, and we want to prepare people so they know what to expect before they come. The goal isn’t to shock it’s to bring light, hope, and truth to areas where many feel trapped in darkness.3. What age group is this for?We recommend the event for ages 10 to 34, since research shows suicides can begin as early as 10 years old, and young adults are deeply affected by these issues. According to the CDC, suicide is the second leading cause of death for ages 10–34, which is why this event is so important. That being said, anyone age 10 and up is welcome, and parents can use their discretion if bringing younger children.4. Is this a haunted house? It’s not a haunted house and it’s not meant to scare for entertainment. Instead, it’s an alternative experience for October that tackles real life issues in a creative and immersive way. While the subject matter is heavy, the ending is uplifting and offers a message of hope.5. Is this a church event? It is hosted by a church, but it’s not your typical church event. It’s open to the whole community, no matter what someone believes. The focus is on showing how real life struggles don’t have to end in darkness, because there is always hope.

    Happy Veteran’s Day

    November 11

God of all nations, on this Veterans Day we thank you for all who have served in our armed forces: for the oath they took and kept, for the years they gave and the homes they left behind, for courage in danger and faithfulness in the long, ordinary days. Bless every veteran among us, those who came home to welcome and those who came home to silence. Heal the wounds that show and the wounds that do not. Give them work that honors their gifts, friends who understand them, and a nation that keeps its promises to them. Comfort the military families who waited and sacrificed alongside them. We remember with gratitude those who did not come home, and we ask your comfort for all who still miss them. Teach the nations the ways of peace, until swords are beaten into plowshares and no one learns war any more. Amen.

Russ Taff and Steve Taylor “The (Almost) Farewell Tour”

    November 21 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
Murray Hill Theatre 932 Edgewood Ave S, Jacksonville, FL, United States

Multiple Grammy and Dove Award-winners Russ Taff and Steve Taylor will appear in one electrifying night together on the The Almost Farewell Tour. Taff will be both supported and backed on all dates by his longtime friend and collaborator and his Some Band. “Maya Angelou said ‘This is a wonderful day. I’ve never seen this one before,’” says Russ Taff. “That’s the way I feel about this tour – it’s going to be so unique and different than any I’ve done. Steve and I did a concert together several months ago and we blew the roof off the place. Steve was stunningly good, it’s been years since I’ve had that much fun on stage! I’m sograteful I get to tour with Steve, I’ve been a fan for a long time. In fact, I remember Mom playing Steve Taylor records when I was like two–years–old. Ha ha ha, kidding Steve, ha ha ha!” “I’m mostly doing this tour as an excuse to hear Russ Taff sing every night,” says Steve Taylor. “But I’m also looking forward to re-assembling Some Band and playing songs I haven’t performed in a few decades.” From a troubled childhood, to the top of the charts, from impossible heights of creative success to his hard-won battle with the bottle, Russ Taff has told the story of his extraordinary life countless times over the course of his career – but never quite like this. Taff has inspired like-minded artists from Kings of Leon to Mercy Me with an influential singing style and body of work and classic songs that have related his spiritual journey with stunning power and deeply personal detail, how he was brought low by trauma and addiction and raised up again through the power of love and faith. Hailed by Prism as a “renaissance man,” musician/filmmaker/writer/producer/entrepreneur Steve Taylor has created a remarkably diverse body of work over the past four decades. Taylor’s work as a music video director and filmmaker saw him make history as the only artist to twice win Billboard Music Video Awards for self-directed music videos and also includes iconic music videos for such artists as Sixpence None the Richer, Newsboys, Fleming & John, Rich Mullins, and more. Taylor has also crafted a remarkably award-winning body of work as the director, writer, producer of numerous feature films, documentaries, animated TV series, and more.
